Testimonials - participants - ESC volunteers PROMOTING SPORT TESTIMONIAL 2019-2020 SERGIU AVĂDĂNII During my activity within the Promoting Sport project I had a multitude of pleasant experiences, interesting activities and tailor-made personal development activities. Since October, the project has been part of a wide variety of activities, from the most basic such as bureaucracy, documentation, arrangements to less common activities such as fundraising, events, interactions with local and even international volunteers. Throughout most of the project, I mainly dealt with international volunteers, "taking care" of them and interacting mostly with them on a daily basis. I had the opportunity to live with them in the UAV dormitory where I learned a lot about different cultures, customs, interests and personalities. We discovered a multitude of opportunities to get to know, learn and understand with them as well as with local volunteers. During the project I learned the importance of responsibility as well as discipline, being forced to be careful and perceptive in everything I had to do. As a personal development, I had the opportunity to learn marketing tactics, fundraising and technical details such as organization, documentation and classification. The bureaucracy was relatively difficult to solve, with many sheets to fill out, record sheets and the need for attention to the smallest details. At the main event, the Marathon, the Half Marathon and the Road Running of Arad, I had a very pleasant experience with the volunteers I worked with before and with those I had just met. During the event, we had various activities in several areas from organizing banners, classifying materials to administering hydration points. During the event we had a good communication from the volunteers despite the pressure we all felt. In conclusion, my activity in the Promoting Sport project was a pleasant one where I learned a lot of things and where I had a lot of experiences that, if I didn't participate, I would never have experienced. I can say that the project period was one of the best in terms of personal development in the last 5 years. TESTIMONIAL PROMOTING SPORT ALPHA TEAM My name is Denisa-Mădălina Groza and for 12 months I was involved in an European Volunteering Project called PROMOTING SPORT. What determined me to apply in this project was its very theme, namely that of promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle among the locals. Among the activities I took part in this project are the organization of two major sporting events in Arad (Tomato Festival 2019 edition, The Marathon, The Half Marathon and the Road Running of Arad 2019 edition) and their promotion locally, nationally, internationally and through social networks; developing skills in the field of design by making promotional posters for the two events but also promoting sports for children by conducting sport activities and games to make them aware of the importance of sport in their lives. I recommend such a project to anyone, because being an European project, the volunteer does not have to pay any fees. In addition, he has the extraordinary opportunity to meet people from different parts of the world and to share their experiences with them, as well as to be able to feel immense satisfaction when the effort made in those months is paid off. TESTIMONIAL PROMOTING SPORT IOANA POPA For many years I’d been interested in pursuing an ESC stage, but things didn’t really fall into place, since I couldn’t move away for a longer time. So I couldn’t have been more excited to discover that I could join one right in my hometown! It turned out to be an amazing experience, and even though the main goal of the project was promoting sports, we all learned so much more. My favourite element was our incredible team, together we pushed through all the challenges, whether these involved running and training in the rain, talking in front of demanding audiences (children or, even more so, teenagers!), preparing racing kits for hundreds of people or cooking delicious traditional dishes for everyone to enjoy. I got to learn more about different cultures, make friends, learn new skills, improve on what I already knew, and most importantly, feel more connected to my community. It helped me learn more about what I enjoy doing and what I’m good at, really setting me on the path of getting more knowledge and experience in youth work. Also, working with other people always turns out in teamwork and because of the fact I was not the best team player before, It was a good experience for me.
